It was a Basketball Bonanza and Golf Galore for the 2025 Legends and High Hopes Golf Weekend! Young athletes of the Yakima Valley and board members of Parker Youth & Sports send appreciation to our seven 2025 Legends athletes for saying YES to participating in the events! Thank you to the sponsors, players, guests and volunteers who attended the dinner and played golf this year. The dedication of this group exceeded all previous years of participation. We are growing because our community supports the mission and work completed.
Complements and appreciation to Apple Tree Golf Resort staff for serving lunch and the very memorable nachos at the after-golf Trophy Par-TEE. 134 Golfers beat the clock with the fastest scramble tournament time in memory. Applause and praise to the Yakima Convention Center for their hospitality and the delicious farm to table ranch dinner they prepared for guests.
The board of Parker Youth & Sports Foundation compliments an unstoppable volunteer group of seventy-two people who staffed, managed, and worked non-stop at the 115 tasks needed for two large events. A special shout out to the Dutch Bros work crew and Michelle volunteering to help with the Legends dinner set up! They never sat down!
The silent auction was filled with good items and bargains. Rosebud Cheerleaders sparkled and got to meet Legend MarJon Beauchamp. The professional delivery from sportscaster MC’s Alan Sillence, Ryan Rogers, celloist Christy Baisinger, auctioneer RL Heaverlo and Christa Blake Parker’s National Anthem were ideal. The Legends were exceptional speakers. Alan Sillence, Pat Fitterer, Sandra Kahle-Pam Berndt-Liz Coon for Christine Silvernail, Katie Borton-Birley, Cheryl Holden, Eli Juarez and MarJon Beauchamp inspired all. It was a pep assembly with a commencement program!
Thank you Premier Sponsor - Sherrie Parker, for the dinner and golf team sponsorships and for the unexpected $25,000 matching fund opportunity with the Raise the Paddle! The first Paddle raised was from a basketball coach! It was the perfect moment! Great appreciation to Gold sponsors the Stan Renecker Family, and the Memorial for Spud Edmondson, Keith Farnam and Swede Lindquist. Cheers for Silver Sponsors Jon & Linda Mulvenon, Yakima Valley Community Foundation, Fidelity Title Co., Cascade Natural Gas, and Engravings Unlimited. We earned the revenue to meet our goal. The final count reveals that this was financially the most successful Legends weekend in our 21-year history.
Loyal supporters, sponsors, and athletic volunteers - Take a Bow! We needed you to raise funds for youth athletics! The community is invited to attend the 2026 Sports Galore weekend next year on August 28th and 29th!
